THIS week the Review has joined up with the Dean Forest Railway, in Lydney, for a fabulous competition, with a trip on their Santa Special for a family of four (children aged between two and 17 years old) as the fantastic prize for the lucky winner!

The specials will run on December 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23 and 24. Each trip lasts approximately one hour, travelling through the forest from Norchard Station (GL15 4ET) to Parkend and back.

Visit them this Christmas for your chance to ride behind a real steam engine with Santa and his helpers on board - no queues for a grotto here!

Each child will receive an age related gift and each adult will receive a mince pie and a miniature to help keep warm!

The cafe will be offering seasonal refreshments all day. Their shop is well stocked with toys and gifts for both young and old with plenty of stocking filler ideas!

The line runs through beautiful woodland and countryside offering visitors a chance to experience the relaxing pace of a typical country branch line.

The railway run special events throughout the year, including themed days for children such as Thomas the Tank Engine, Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig, which have proved very popular with youngsters and adults alike. They also hold also steam and diesel gala days, and special evening food excursion trains.
