A LONE woman was assaulted while out walking her two dogs around Newent Lake over the weekend.

The 48-year-old was hit on the head from behind at around 7pm on Sunday (4 June) and was knocked unconscious.

The victim suffered a lump on her head and bruising to her face but nothing was stolen in the incident.

She was then helped by two women who looked after her dogs.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward by contacting police on 101 and quoting incident 185 of 5 June 2017.
