A 54-YEAR-OLD Newnham-on-Severn woman was badly injured after being trapped under a car which mounted the pavement in Lydney and slammed head-on into traffic lights.
Fire fighters fought to lift the car off the injured woman and she was air-lifted by helicopter to Bristol, suffering severe leg injuries.
It is understood the accident, which took place last Friday morning (October 9), was sparked by a collision involving a grey Audi, a minibus and a Citroen. The Citroen mounted the pavement in Newerne Street, appears to have hit a shop front and then collided with the traffic lights, taking the woman passer by with it.
The driver of the Citroen, an elderly woman, was treated for shock at the scene but was unharmed.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident number 158.
