WE should be proud of the talent that we have here in the Forest. We have people with a great sense of humour, musician, and especially some who are quite young.
The concert arranged for me by Will Sharma exemplified that. Many people who attended it at St Mary's Church Lydney were amazed at the standard of their singing and playing.
As well as this we had the Forest Music Society with their rendering of the music from "The Fiddler on the Roof." I had been to the Town Hall when it was performed there. I felt so moved by their singing that I asked Will if he could persuade them to sing at the concert.
I look forward to their next musical "Oklahoma" in the autumn. They give up a lot of time rehearsing and it is given freely. The whole performance was very special for many people as there were families at the church still grieving over loved ones who had had brain tumours.
As a nurse I have had to see many young patients, even babies suffer. The representative from Brain Tumour UK gave stark statistics on brain tumour survival.
I have worked hard to promote awareness of the need for more research. Raising money was very important and with the help of many people I will have raised nearly £3,000.
I hope everyone who attended will remember the concert and the reason for it being held.
