ALL Saints Church in Viney Hill has achieved something of a scoop by booking the acclaimed Adelaide Chamber Singers for a concert on Sunday September 26.

The singers, who have not only made a big impact in Australia but world-wide, first came to the UK in 1996 when they gave several concerts for BBC Radio 3 which were widely praised.

Membership has been drawn from the best of Adelaide's ensemble singers and young soloists, and several of its past members are currently building careers as opera singers and professional choral singers in Australia and overseas.

The singers' current tour is taking them to Cheltenham, Oxford, Norwich, Reading, Eastbourne and, after the Viney Hill concert, St Paul's Cathedral in London.

Concert organiser Pat Lowe said: "It is certainly an experience not to be missed and we would like to give them a really big welcome to the Forest of Dean."

She said her family had become involved with the choir and its musical director just before moving to the Forest from South Oxfordshire and made firm friendships which enabled her to persuade them to come to the Forest.

This months concert starts at 3pm and ticket details are available from Ruth Howley, 33 Kimberley Drive, Lydney, tel 01594 544462, or Stan Saunders, Tanglewood, Pine Tree Way, Viney Hill, Tel. 01594 510698.

All the profits will be going to church funds.
