THE party went on despite torrential rain as residents at the Two Rivers supported housing scheme in Yorkley kept calm and carried on in the first of the "summer season" of residents' tea parties.

Tea organiser and cake porter Clive Wilce, who works across the area providing support and advice to tenants, said the party had been a great success.

"It is communities that matter and the Yorkley community is certainly determined to have a good time. They never miss out on the opportunity for a party," he said.

"The Forest is a beautiful place to live but rural isolation can become a real problem. Our network of 30 supported housing schemes provides company and community for over 900 residents.

"We provide small bungalows and apartments at an affordable rent where people can live as part of a vibrant community. It's a real help to those who are starting to find it hard to cope all by themselves in a bigger family sized home," he said.

The event was just one of a host of summer events being organised by the Two Rivers' neighbourhood team for all its 3,700 residents. Details of the full list will be available soon.
