TWO young dancers who attend a Broadwell dance school have been given a flying start in their careers.

Nicola Bevan, 22, of Milkwall, has passed her Associate Stage Dancing exams with a fantastic 89 per cent honours.

She is now qualified to teach stage dancing at all grades for the National Association of Teachers of Dancing as well as being fully qualified to teach national tap.

Nicola has been an assistant teacher at the Jane Jarret School of Dancing, where she has been trained over the past 11 years, for around three years.

Fellow Jane Jarret dancer Laura Boyle, 19, from Coleford, attended an audition at Pineapple Studios in London and has gained a job with a dance company going to Cyprus in April.

"We wish Laura all the best but will miss her greatly. She promises to come back when her contract finishes – let's hope so," said a school spokesman.

Laura is studying for her elementary ballet, intermediate stage and intermediate tap and hopes to gain her stage associate qualification before leaving for Cyprus.

Like Nicola she has been with Jane Jarret for around 11 years.
