PUPILS from Whitecross School in Lydney were shutter stars when their camerawork was displayed at a London exhibition, with one of the students taking home the top prize.

Bryn Clarke (14) was named as the winning photographer in the "Compact" category, with his photo of a Forest of Dean free mine described by the judges as "a beautifully composed photograph that demands to be studied."

Colliers International hosted its fourth annual Colliers Green Focus awards ceremony at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in central London.

Now in its fifth year, Colliers Green Focus is an innovative and exciting way for children taking Key Stage 3 and S1-3 (Scotland) Geography to discover and learn about their environment through photography. The programme aims to reach 300 schools and 18,000 children by the end of the current phase, and this will be achieved by a series of INSET teacher training days and expert workshops.

Every year, the photos of participating students are entered into a national competition with their work displayed at the annual reception. Awards are presented to the students for the winning photographs. Popular TV adventurer Steve Backshall is the Colliers Green Focus ambassador, and is part of the judging panel for the awards.
