A GROUP of young athletes is appealing for a new home as members recently lost their training facility.

The hammer, javelin, shot and discus throwers belong to the Forest of Dean Athletics Club (FoDAC).

Head coach, Andrew Compton, told the Review: “FoDAC has been nurturing some amazing young talent. Sadly, health and safety considerations mean that they have lost their existing training facility and cannot find a replacement.

“Last year these athletes represented the county and also won individual medals in their disciplines. They have also qualified for both the English schools’ and Welsh schools’ national finals.

“Without new facilities, these young people will either have to travel long distances to train or be lost to the sport altogether. We need a piece of land about football pitch size where we can also construct a small barn type building so that we can train throughout the year to produce athletes the club, the Forest and maybe even the country can be proud of.”
