BERRY Hill put together a bonus point-winning performance against a North Bristol side who beat them comfortably at the start of the season.

The Hillmen ran in four tries with two from Scott Brown and one each for Dave Croudace and Kingsley Bower.

There has been a harder edge to Hill's game since the disappointment of losing the Forest derby to Drybrook a month ago.

Manager Rob Lane said: "It's been a frustrating season so far. We haven't played badly and Drybrook was probably our worst performance.

"Since then there has been a harder edge to our game and against Matson last week there were signs of things starting to click and the boys carried that into this game."

The Berry Hill scrum is looking stronger with Ben Lewis at tight head and the return to the club of Jimmy Matthews in the second row has added weight and experience.

Competition for places in the team is set to get more fierce with the return to contention of eight key players but they will have to work hard to get onto the sheet.

The game was watched from the new sponsors' balcony by the Wappers – the third team – on their annual sponsors' day.

Man of the match was 17-year-old wing Scott Brown who was outstanding in defence and attack and capped the performance with two tries.
