YOUNG gymnasts from Chepstow's Kestrels group started the year off with two new Welsh champions at the Apparatus Championships at the Sport Wales National Centre.

Henry Burke, 9, became under-10 Welsh High Bar Champion and also took bronze overall, while Evan Kennedy became the under-10 Welsh Vault Champion with a score of 12.50.

The under-12 team consisting of Owen Badham, Thomas Jenkins and William John won team silver. Sam Dallimore, 13, did his utmost best on all six pieces of apparatus to win silver overall.
