CALDICOT Town's recent good form came to an abrupt halt with a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Dinas Powys.
Their run of three consecutive wins ended in a poor game where chances were few and far between on a difficult surface.
But it was Dinas - who started the game two points ahead of Town - that settled quickest and had the best of the early exchanges. They hit an upright mid-way through the half and Caldicot keeper Gareth Williams had to be at his best to push a header around the post.
With the score 0-0 at half time both managers would have been hoping to spark their sides into life. And it was Dinas that came out stronger and dominated a second half that followed a near identical pattern to the first.
Caldicot again had Williams to thank for keeping the scores level during the opening period, saving well on a number of occasions.
But despite his best efforts Dinas found the back of net with 20 minutes to go. A ball into the box evaded the Town centre backs and found Liam Jeremy in space. He squared to Joe Hinds who side-footed into the bottom corner from 15 yards out.
At the other end Luke Harris was the best of the Caldicot forwards but it took a defender to finally test the visiting keeper when an effort by skipper James Munday was turned away late-on.
Town remain eleventh in Welsh league Division 2 and face a tricky trip to Caerau next Saturday.
