LYDNEY Town ended their run of four Hellenic Premier games without a win with a dramatic victory over Cheltenham Saracens.

Town took the lead after just 27 seconds when Zac Pinchard drilled home and he doubled the advantage on 10 minutes.

The visitors responded almost immediately with a goal through Josh Aldridge.

It took Lydney only a few minutes to restore the two-goal cushion when Abdul Abrahim scored from the edge of the box.

Town went into the break 3-1 ahead but in the second half the visitors looked dangerous as they attempted to claw their was back into the game.

They thought they had pulled one back but substitute Aston Jeffs – who had been brought on at full-back when Felix Schmidt went off with a muscle injury – cleared off the line.

The Cheltenham side got their reward when their skipper Luke Hinchman slid the ball home after Lydney failed to clear a corner.

Saracens were now on top and they drew the game level with 15 minutes left. Striker Ryan Dobbins was left in acres of space and he made no mistake from 12 yards.

A succession of corners by Sarries were superbly dealt with mainly by Lydney defender Tom Baldwin who gave a man of the match performance at the back.

When Lydney's next attack broke down they were caught on the counter and Saracens missed a golden opportunity to go in front when their strikers failed to take advantage of an unguarded goal.

Lydney took the lead with 10 minutes left when returning frontman Lewis Thompson slipped the ball inside the far post.

From yet another corner Saracens were awarded penalty.

Keeper Keiron Blackburn dived to his right to save the kick and blocked the rebound with his legs to keep Lydney in front.
