YORKLEY FC will run its 13th Mark Burgess memorial match at Yorkley rec on Boxing Day at 11am.

Mr Burgess, who was attacked on his way home from a Christmas party, was so badly injured he passed away on Boxing Day 2002.

Every Boxing Day since Yorkley FC challenge a combined side of Mark’s ex-team mates, work colleagues, friends and family to a match to raise funds in Mark’s memory.

Yorkley AFC Chairman, Mark Hudson said: “Anyone from other clubs, friends of friends are more than welcome to come along and join in.

“The match is followed by a draw/auction at the Nags Head. All the money raised will be donated to local organisations of the family’s choice in memory of Mark.

“Yorkley FC sends its best wishes to all of Mark’s family at this very difficult time of year.”
