YOUNG swimmers followed the likes of sporting superstar Michael Phelps by making a splash in the London 2012 pool.
It was high fives all around as pupils from Monmouth School Girls’ Prep took home that many medals at the Independent Schools Association’s National Swimming Finals at the London Aquatics Centre.
Isobel Jones, aged 10, was the most successful swimmer, winning two bronze medals in Sunday’s showpiece event.
She secured third in the 50m butterfly and joined with Daisy Phillips, 10, in winning a bronze in the 4x50m individual medley relay.
Sophie Williams, nine, and Verity Ainsworth, eight, also shone at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park venue, winning a bronze medal each in the 4x50m freestyle relay.
The whole day was “a fantastic experience” for the girls with Ailsa Whitehead, Bella Hull, Lola Williams and Jessica Stentiford also representing the school with distinction.
Sophie said: “It was amazing because we knew the pool had been the venue for the London 2012 Olympics and it was incredible to follow in the footsteps of Olympic swimmers.”
