A SIX-a-side football tournament was held to raise money for new community changing rooms at Tutshill recreation ground.
The event was organised by Tidenham FC and attracted 16 teams from the Forest, Chepstow and further afield and the eventual winners were Cheltenham PSU.
The community is looking to raise £280,000 for changing rooms at the rec and have grant applications in with Sport England and the Football Foundation.
Jane Hall, who is looking after the finances, said: "Although the football club would be the major users this is very much a community project and we are looking to get people involved in sport.
"We have a fun run on Sunday, September 24 where we will be encouraging to people to run in fancy dress and Community Games which is a legacy of the Olympics.
"We'll also be promoting rounders and there will be an opportunity to have a go at the sport."
"A decision on the application with Sport England's development fund will be made on August 8 but it is very oversubscribed so we would be very lucky to get funding from there."
Hadyn Bynon, of Tidenham FC, said they needed better facilities to allow them to play a higher standard of football.
He said: "We had to play our home games at Lydney which was not sustainable because of the cost of hiring changing facilities.
"This was the first tournament we've organised and we had 16 teams which was good and it raised £800."
