COACH Tracy Hodgson is appealing for players from the Forest of Dean to join a new girls' cricket team.

Hodgson is the sister of former spin king Ashley Giles, who is now the coach of England's limited overs teams.

The proposed new girls' team will be playing at Monmouth Cricket Club, which begins its youth indoor training on Thursday at Monmouth School's sports complex from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Harri Nash, from Berry Hill, was an impressive performer for Monmouth Under-11s boys' team in the Monmouthshire Building Society Junior League last year.

Boys and girls, aged from six to 13 years old, are welcome to come along to training but must contact youth development officer Jon Despontin in advance on 0796 601 5609 or by emailing: jdespo@aol. com

Monmouth Cricket Club are also on the look-out for new senior players, and, for details, call first-team captain Paul Swingwood on 07526 925396 or email: [email protected]">[email protected]
