LYDNEY RFC celebrated a season which both senior teams crowned champions.

The club's annual awards night was held on Saturday night at Lydney Town Hall – the first time the event has been held there since the club's centenary in 1987.

As well as promotion back to National League Two for the first XV the club also has a flourishing youth section.

Sam Arnott was named players' player of the year. Sam missed only one game this season and kept the side going forward. Dewi Scourfield ran him a close second.

The coach's player of the year went to Chris Holder who played in several positions this season and could be relied upon to lead from the front. The runner-up was a new face, Matt Boobyer.

Adam Wheeler was young player of the year as reward for an outstanding season from the forward who always showed total commitment. Callum Wyman was second.

Chris 'Butch' Holder was the first player to be named clubman of the year as the person who embodies the club's ethos.

Butch never misses training and playing wherever and whenever required.

In the second XV awards Aaron Parsons was players' player of the year and Alex Hall was coach's player of the year.
