FOREST Fitness-based special power lifter Nathan Fisher has held on to his Scottish title.

Nathan travelled to Dundee to defend his senior 59 kilo title, earned a year ago. Although not breaking any personal bests he accomplished a top squat of 115kg and a bench press at 85kg. In the finishing dead lift he went to 122.5kg – altogether totalling 322.5kg and the gold medal in his weight class.

Coach Allan Elliott said: "Nathan has maintained an amazing track record of consistent lifting over the last 12 years.

"This time he has again outlifted his main competitors and although I could not be there to coach him I was happy with his preparation training and felt confident that he would do well."

Nathan did amazingly well in Athens, bringing home a total of four medals including a much-coveted gold.

Alan is arranging a visit by Heywood students in the next two weeks to see Nathan train, and there will be a visit to the Heart of the Forest School to promote a forthcoming concert (March 31, 6.30pm) at St Stephen's Church in Cinderford to raise money for the school's equipment fund.

Tickets can be purchased in all Forest towns and on the door.

After a short break Nathan will be back to hard training for the British Championships at Bradford in November.
