ASHTON Leopold of Revolution Tae-kwon Do in Cinderford is a UK champion following a win at championships in Birmingham.

Ashton brought home the Open Red Belt championship at the Absolute Tae Kwon-Do Association’s UK Open Championships on March 1.

He also won bronze in his own category despite being injured during his sparring bout.

The previous week Ashton had been in action at another tournament.

Ashton had spent hours of extra training since November with other Revolution students from all over the UK which led him to be chosen to represent Cinderford Tae Kwon-Do in the 14-person squad at Puma v Revolution Clash of The Clans, which was held in Bristol on February 22.

There were 14 matches of two 2-minute rounds each.

Ashton was one of the two youngest competitors in the tournament, and came away with a silver trophy.

Mr Ken Penman, Cinderford Tae Kwon-Do Instructor, said: "The whole club is extremely proud of Ashton for his achievements in recent tournaments. Congratulations Ashton.”

Ashton took up Tae Kwon-Do in 2023 and as well as being a UK champion he also has 19 medals, three trophies and a collection of regional and national titles.

Ashton loves going to class and enjoys helping out with the lower grade students and his goal is to get his black belt.
