BREAM Reserves were edged out by Soudley Reserves in a key fixture for both sides in North Gloucestershire Division One.
The 3-4 win extended second-placed Soudley’s lead over Bream to five points.
Playing at The Lonk for a fourth successive week, Bream began positively, moving the ball well and threatening to create early openings.
Soudley struck first when the home side failed to clear their lines and a shot from the edge of the area found the bottom corner.
The response was swift as Scott Turner’s well-delivered free-kick was turned in by a Soudley defender.
Soudley regained the lead soon after, capitalising on a long ball that Bream were unable to deal with, allowing a forward through on goal to finish one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
The visitors extended their advantage before the interval when a 50-50 challenge deflected the ball into the area and caught the Bream goalkeeper off guard and went into the net.
Soudley led 3-1 at half-time, but Bream reduced the deficit early in the second half through Jordan Griffiths, who drove a low left-footed effort from outside the box into the bottom corner.
The comeback was completed soon after as a quick throw-in led to a fine delivery into the area, which Sam Hill finished confidently into the bottom corner to make it 3-3.
Soudley, however, found a decisive fourth when a long ball wasn’t dealt with and headed back into a dangerous area and a Soudley midfielder restored the lead.
Soudley had the ball in the net again only for it to be ruled offside.
Bream were unable to convert late pressure into a fourth.
