SOME 80 hardcore runners braved the cold wet weather to take part in the Rogue Runs' second off-road night race.
Runners were sent on a challenging 10k route from Cannop Cycle where they faced wide forest trails, twisting single track paths, stream crossings and plenty of hills.
After a gruelling 37mins 47secs, Paul Murrin of Chepstow Harriers was the first man to cross the finish line as was Niki Morgan who was the first lady to finish in 46mins 43secs. Runners up David Williams of Chepstow Harriers came in 40mins 27secs and Vanessa Lawson from Chepstow Harriers came in 48mins 19secs. Just missing out on a prize in third place was Paul Drew in 40mins 37secs and Claire Demarquet in 50mins 13secs.
Sponsors Silva donated head torches as prizes for the first and second man and woman. The winners also received a hand-crafted wooden owl.
The race was part of a series of four, and the next one will be at Chepstow Castle on Saturday February 22 and the final one at Mallards Pike on Saturday March 22. The races are organised by Forest of Dean's Paul Dodd and Chepstow's Andy Creber.
