SUDBROOK Cricket Club are now guaranteed to finish the season in ninth in the Gwent County League Division Two after Newport Corinthians lost one of their two games in hand.

Caldicot Castle's fourth consecutive defeat, 2-0 to Marshfield means have ended sixth in Gwent County League Division Three.

In the Welsh League Reserve Division East Caldicot Town leapfrog Treown Stars into eighth after smashing them 6-0. The game featured a number of youth players, with goals coming from Luke Blakeborough who got two, Mitchell Slape, Mo Chambers, Tyler Huggett and topscorer Tom Philps.

Thornwell Red and White A have been crowned Gill Cup champions after edging a close game 1-0 over Tintern Abbey. The two sides will now play off for the league title on Saturday. Tintern Abbey need just a point to exact revenge as they currently lead on goal difference.
