CHEPSTOW and District Swimming Club retained the prestigious P&P Gala Shield for the third year in a row.

Despite having a depleted team as many swimmers were involved in a dance show in Chepstow, the team won a convincing victory with a score of 205 points over teams from Caldicot (55), Cwmbran (162 points), Merthyr Tydfil (155) and Rhonda (121) in the competition at Pontypool.

Coach Chris Gale was delighted with the result and said it was a fantastic performance by everyone and urged everyone to keep up the good work.

"Even though we had to put out a restricted squad, meaning swimmers had to compete in more races than we would normally expect, we had a lot of personal best times achieved from many outstanding swims,  resulting in us holding the trophy for thre consecutive years."

The club has been supported by a grant from the New Grove Trust which has helped with entry costs and transport fees to both this gala and league events across the South Wales and South West region.

Team manager Cliff Parris also wished to thank the parent volunteers and pointed out that without them none of this would be possible.
