THE last time the name of a Dean pub was inscribed on the Forest skittles champions’ trophy, memories were still fresh of the London Olympics – the 1948 Games that is.

You have to go back to 1949 to find the last time the White Horse in Soudley won the champions’ trophy for the summer league but now the 2017 B team has added the honour.

The team only formed a couple of years ago but they won all 20 matches in division five of the league and then took the trophy for which each division winner competes.

White Horse skipper Nick Holder said: “The league is competitive but very enjoyable. All the teams are very welcoming and it’s a good night out.

“We’re delighted to have won the trophy after all this time.”
