YOUNGSTERS have a chance to get hooked on fishing by attending a series of free lessons being sponsored by Royal Forest of Dean Angling Club next month.

From July 26 through to July 29 youngsters aged from six to 16 can take part in fishing sessions being held at the club's Plump Hill fishery.

A club spokesman said: "All are welcome, whether regular anglers or absolute beginners and all you need to bring with you is suitable clothing and footwear in case of bad weather.

"All tackle, bait, and other requirements are supplied."

The taster sessions have proved hugely popular in the past and anyone interested in taking part is being advised to book a place. There is no cost involved.

The sessions are conducted by experienced, qualified and CRB checked approved coach­es led by Nick Oakey of Angling4a Catch. Bookings are taken on a first come, first served basis. (Tel 01594 506373 or 07739 556983).

The training is divided into morning (start 9am) and afternoon sessions (start 1pm) with each youngster being given personalised advice and help acording to their ability.

It is, says Nick, an opportunity for youngsters to enjoy themselves and learn a new skill.
