I RECENTLY decided to walk to Chepstow town instead of taking the car, and opted not to walk along the road but to go through the woods from Bulwark to Garden City, a walk I have not done for many years.
I was disgusted. The entire footpath and wooded area was overgrown and strewn not only with litter but all manner of household waste, microwaves, sofas, old bags of concrete and old washing machines.
As it had been raining the path was thick with mud – my shoes were caked in it. I had to walk around town looking like I had just come from a farm.
I do not know who is responsible for maintaining this area – it must be someone.
It is very sad because it could be a pleasant walk into town away from the noise and pollution of the road. Instead it is a dumping ground, a blot on the landscape. – Mrs B. Johnston, Bulwark.
