ALAN and Jane Russell and neighbours Leslie and Jack Hogg of Chapel Road, Berry Hill, had a special launch for their joint display of Christmas lights – Coleford town mayor Mike Lacey came along to do the honours.
"We put them up and my neighbours the Hoggs joined in and we've really made a special display," said Alan.
"Then we started telling people we were going to have our own switch-on ceremony and make a bit of a party of it but somebody said we should have a celebrity to switch on.
"To our surprise Mike Lacey said he would be happy to help – and that really made the occasion!"
Also present at Saturday night's switch-on were John and Gill Camp – as well as all the neighbourhood kids.
