A JOINT Christmas concert on Sunday, put on by award-winning Coleford Community Choir, gold medal-winning Forest of Dean Area Wind Band and Coalway Singers, raised £1,000 for homeless charity Crisis.
Spokesperson for the community choir, Jane MacBean said: “The evening at Coleford Baptist Church was wonderful.
“Each musical group performed separately in the first part of the evening reflecting their individual styles. The second half of the concert brought all three music groups together in an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
“Narrated by Rob Saunders, with wonderful singing and playing, the performers reminded us all of how fortunate we are to live where we do, in warm, comfortable homes.
“Howard Gibbard demonstrated his excellent piano playing, accompanying the Coleford Community Choir, supported by Stan Harris on drums.
“All three music groups were directed by Sam Davies, who is an inspirational musical director. Under his leadership all three groups continue to go from strength-to-strength.”
