THE residents of Tidenham parish have been invited by the Winston Group (whoever they are!) to comment on a concept for development in the Sedbury area, close to Wyedean School and bordering the A48.

This so-called "consultation" has no legitimacy, as far as I can ascertain, as the parish council only received the "invitation" at about the same time as the residents. We are being invited to assist in a survey of "nothingness"!

To invite comments regarding a nebulous concept which currently has no legitimacy is disingenuous in the extreme, yet should we not answer there is the probability that the Winston Group will take it as tacit confirmation of any survey result they come up with which is not so!

Tidenham parish found itself in a similar situation with the Hanson Group some years ago and threw it out – nothing has changed regarding this parish and the surrounding areas so for now I believe the response must be "Thank you but no thank you."

Let us discuss, if we must, improvements to roads through local villages, access to the motorway (Hardwick Hill), the lack of local industry and consequently local work opportunity, bus routes, train routes, schools, medical care (surgeries), shops, leisure etc etc for those of us currently living here before we start talking 200, 2,000, 20,000 new houses! – Pauline E.
