VILLAGERS packed out Blakeney on Saturday to celebrate 25 years of the duck racing and fete.
All the fun was at the Blakeney Butts recreation ground where there was a ducking stool, mini golf, wellie wanging, children's rides, face painting, raffle, stalls, barbecue and skittles for a salmon.
In the afternoon people lined the bank of Forge Brook to watch the duck racing where there were 19 small duck races. The winners from each race then took part in the big duck national which this year featured a whopping 500 rubber ducks. Winner of the race, Barbara Hammonds, of Blakeney, won the £150 cash prize and to celebrate the 25 year theme there was a silver duck special. Aaron Davies, also of Blakeney, was the lucky winner of the duck which was pulled out of a hat which came with a £50 cash prize.
Chairman of the duck race committee, Dave Brice said: "We had a brilliant turnout and this year we had lots of ducks enter the race. I don't know exactly how much we raised but I estimate it to be between £5,000 to £6,000. We will split the money equally between the Blakeney youth club, village hall, football club and the duck race committee."
