HAVING read Cllr Norman Stephens' letter, may I compliment him and the Review for printing it. Norman proves by his letter that the independents are indeed the people's champion. One could say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. If indeed Mark Harper was involved in the interview skulduggery then he should be downright ashamed of himself.

I have known Norman most of my life and always found him to be honourable and truthful in every respect. I note a slip of the pen so to speak when Norman said he once had reasonable respect for Peter Amos. Personally I am somewhat surprised that anyone like Peter Amos could gain Norman's respect. I would like to add what a wonderful combination to have Norman and Andrew Gardiner on the same boat. Can I echo the old adage 'Beware of the Trojans bearing gifts' or should I say the Conservatives.

As a true Forester may I also compliment Cllr Andrew Gardiner for his excellent organisation regarding the delegation to London. Unfortunately he allowed the likes of Peter Amos, who prior to being allowed to embark gave his word not to open his mouth, and to believe that is rather like asking a mamba not to bite. I belive he is as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Peter Amos and Mark Harper did not support the proposal of Andrew Gardiner to travel to London, yet wheedled a seat on the coach. and in my opinion, should not have been allowed on there.

It was not too long ago the Standards Board suspended Alan Preest. Should not Peter Amos be suspended for giving his word then running off to an interview with the BBC TV, or is there a rule for one and a rule for another? I would add that Andrew Gardiner is a true Forest Gentleman in every respect, above all independent. Why are the independents integrated? Because they care and stand by each other and they are truly the champions of the people of the Forest.

– Councillor, Mike Meredith-Edwards, A proud Independent.
