LYDNEY's well known United Reformed Church in the town's Tutnalls Street is opening its doors for two days next week.
Church members recently launched a book telling the history of the building which was once affectionately known as the "tin hut." The publication has proved a big success. Now unrecognisable, anyone with a link to its past is being invited to take a look at the church.
"We would really love to see anyone who has been connected with the church in any way. Perhaps you were a member of the Sunday School or attended Sunshine Hour or the Bible clubs. You might even have had your wedding or christening here," says church member Joan Davies.
There have, she says, been many changes.
"The church will be open from 10am until 4pm on Friday October 14 and Saturday October 15. Church records, minutes, photograph albums, scrapbooks and much more will be available for visitors to browse," said Joan.
"We welcome everyone – with connections or not – to come in and look around. There will be people to chat to and refreshments will be served."
