ON SATURDAY I was at the checkout in our local Lidl store when my mind went blank and I couldn't remember my pin number. Normally not a problem, but today I had no cash with me and neither did my husband. I said to the cashier I would have to leave the shopping and return later with cash.
Then a lady who was in the queue some distance behind me offered to lend me the money. She was a complete stranger and would not take 'no' for an answer. She lent me the £20 and said I could return it to her at work.
What a wonderful, refreshing gesture to a complete stranger. In this day and age it makes such a wonderful change to find someone so kind, generous and trusting.
