HUNDREDS of fans had an extra treat when Britain’s newest steam stopped at a local station.

There was plenty of time to admire the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust’s A1 class engine 60163 Tornado when it made stops at Severn Tunnel Junction on both the outward and return journeys on Sunday (July 14).

The engine, which was built in 2008, was pulling a train of 11 carriages on trip from Bristol to Tenby.

The next steam train in the area is also due to stop – at both Lydney and Chepstow.

The train from London to Cardiff will stop to allow excursions to the Dean Forest Railway and Chepstow Castle.

The tour is scheduled for Thursday, August 1 and is due to arrive in Lydney at 1pm.
