PROUD mum, Lisha Aston of Lydney, has been praising the efforts of her daughter Aimee, who decided to have her fine head of hair chopped off – to send to the 'Little Princess Trust' charity, to be made into wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments that cause hair-loss.
The chop took place last week at the Kudos hairdressing salon in King Street, Lydney – with the actual cut being performed by stylist Abbie Powell.
Mum Lisha told the Review: "My kind caring nine year old made a very big decision to cut 10 inches off her hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust. This in itself is more than a generous, selfless act, but when she learned that it costs the charity to make the wigs, she wanted to raise money for that too!"
"So we have set up a JustGiving website to raise money for the wig making. It costs £350 to make a wig, so that is the target that she is aiming for. So far we have raised about £180 towards the total."
As to whether Aimee regretted losing her luscious locks, her mum said: "Not a bit of it! She reckons she looks quite cool and funky..."
To help Aimee to reach her target, she asks that donations be sent to the account at http://www.JustGiving.com/aimee-louschop">www.JustGiving.com/aimee-louschop.
