FORMER Forest miner Dave Harvey has had a new beer named after him.
Dave Harvey Bronze Ale depicts the bronze statue of Dave which stands in the centre of Cinderford. It is brewed at Don Burgess's Freeminer Brewery which is within sight of the statue.
"It's a wonderful piece of work which we tend to take for granted and as Dave has done so much to publicise the old Forest mines I thought it would be a good idea to name a beer after him," said Mr Burgess.
"It is a special winter brew from a new English hop variety and we have made it to a new recipe," he said.
The Freeminer Brewery has produced many beers named after local mining landmarks. The Freeminer bitter is a local favourite while among many others there is Speculation, Hopewell, Waterloo and Morse's Level.
Dave Harvey Bronze is presently available at the Miners Arms, Whitecroft, The Nelson Arms, Drybrook, Rising Sun, Moseley Green and the Golden Lion in Cinderford.
It will soon be going nationwide as it is to be served in Wetherspoons pubs throughout Britain.
A decision as to whether or not the beer will be sold as a bottled ale will be made at a later date.
Dave's verdict: " It's a good 'un."
And naturally enough a poem followed titled 'Cheers'.
