A FIRST response ambulance found itself at the centre of a nasty collision in Cinderford on Saturday morning.

The paramedic was responding to an emergency when it collided with a Nissan Almera at the Stockwell Green junction on St White's Road.

Fire crews cut the driver out of the Nissan and took him to Gloucester Royal Hospital as a precaution after he complained of back pain. The paramedic was uninjured. No arrests were made.

One resident told the Review: "I heard the accident was pretty bad. The Stockwell Green junction is awful anyway, as you have to gently edge out onto a busy road. It was lucky nobody was seriously injured – I would hate to think what would have happened had it been during the school run."
