BROCKWEIR angler Tony Summers beat off stiff opposition to win the Welsh Federation of Coarse Anglers veterans match for over 50s at Red Hill Fishery, Monmouth.

Tony romped home with an excellent weight of 91lb 8oz taken from the middle of the lake on 14 metre pole, finishing almost 20lbs clear of the field.

Tony is enjoying a good run of results at the prolific Red Hill venue. Earlier in the month he had finished runner-up in the Senior Welsh National. Tony caught most of his fish this time at full depth on maggot over pellet feed. Peter Meese of Glamorgan Anglers, method-feedered his way to runner-up spot with 71lb 7oz from peg 37. On the opposite bank, third placed Jon Taylor again of Glamorgan Anglers, took his fish on worm.
