POLICE are urging Foresters to step up their security in light of several burglaries last week.

Properties in Cinderford, Littledean and Mitcheldean were targeted and jewellery, including an 18 carat gold wedding ring, was stolen.

Officers are investigating whether the break-ins were committed by the same people.

In a statement, a police spokesman said: "Jewellery was taken from three houses in Mount Pleasant Road, Cinderford, between 12pm on Monday February 17 and 9pm on Wednesday February 19; Valley Road, Cinderford, between 12pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday February 19; and Silver Street, Littledean, between 3pm and 9pm on Wednesday February 19.

"Lists of the stolen items are still being confirmed but an 18 carat gold wedding ring, 18 carat gold earrings, a necklace with an aqua marine stone in the middle and an 18 carat gold ring with a citron stone in it were taken in the Mount Pleasant Road burglary.

"In another possibly linked incident three burglars were disturbed attempting to break into a house they thought was empty in Colchester Close, Mitcheldean between 8pm and 8.15pm on Wednesday February 19.

"The suspects are described as male, in their late teens or early 20s and white.

The first offender is described as being of medium build and 5ft 9ins tall, wearing light-coloured trousers, a darker sleeveless top which was lighter in colour at the bottom and had a thin stripe on it, a light-coloured full sleeve top, a beanie hat and dark shoes with light soles.

"The second offender is described as being of slim build and 5ft 6ins tall, wearing a light, possibly blue baseball cap with a small rectangular badge on the front, dark coat and trousers and light, probably white trainers.

"The third offender is described as being of slim build and 5ft 6ins tall, wearing dark trousers, light, possibly blue top or tracksuit top and dark, possibly black beanie type hat."
