POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two elderly pedestrians were struck by a car on the A48 last Friday afternoon.

The collision happened at Walmore Hill in Minsterworth and forced police to shut the road both ways.

A blue Toyota Yaris was travelling towards Westbury-on-Severn at about 4.20pm when the car collided with the pedestrians who were crossing the road.

One pedestrian suffered serious hip and leg injuries and is currently in a serious but stable condition at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. The other pedestrian was taken to hospital with a broken ankle but has since been discharged.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or the car being driven prior to the incident should call 101 and quote incident 368 of July 8.
