NEARLY 400 people have donated more than £11,500 in eight days in tribute to a former Monmouth Comprehensive School head boy.

Talented sportsman Ted Senior, 22, who was studying medicine at Swansea University, was found dead after taking his own life on Saturday, February 10.

The Ted Senior Trust, formed by his family, will help fund projects and forums aimed at preventing a reoccurrence of a similar tragedy.

Ted’s younger brother Max wrote on the fundraising page: “In the 22 years he lived, he had an unbelievable impact on so many people’s lives.

“He had a rare ability to light up any room with his wide smile, mop of blonde hair and special charm.

“Ted was a friend to everyone and always did his utmost to help people in need. The life and soul of every situation, Ted was someone who embodied all the right values on how to live, and will undoubtedly leave a lifelong legacy in everyone’s hearts.

“Ted achieved a huge amount in such a small space of time; he was a talented rugby player and had a great passion for all sports. More recently, he got into medical school after years of hard work and sacrifice.

“Ted was a son, a brother and a friend to many and will be sorely missed by everyone lucky enough to know him.”

Paying tribute this week, Monmouth Comprehensive School head teacher Vaughan Davies said: “It was Ted’s exceptional qualities that made it inevitable that he became our head boy and a leader and representative of our community.

“He was a talented sportsman, a dedicated and committed student, a natural leader, and a genuine and authentic individual who had time for everyone.

“Ted was in many ways a big brother to us all. He will always be part of our school.”

Monmouth Rugby Football Club held a minute’s silence at their game at Chepstow RFC in honour of Ted, who was part of the Newport Dragons academy as a youngster and also played for Raglan Rovers Football Club.

The memorial service and funeral will be held at Monmouth’s St Mary’s Church this Friday, March 9 at 2pm after it was switched from last Friday (March 2) owing to the snowy conditions.
