REGARDING the Speech House vintage show, let me say it was yet another brilliant display and a super day.

I have been displaying multiple exhibits for more than 50 years – very often in the early days up to five exhibits including steam, public service vehicles, commercial and vintage or post-vintage cars – and always managed to be on site between 8am and 9am, managing to stay the distance until 5pm then got it home with the help of family.

I must say that most car owners, be they vintage, post-vintage or classic, have always been a law unto themselves.

I have seen them arrive as late as 11am and leave from 2pm and I would dare any of them to deny it and on two-day events they will turn up on one day only.

It is high time that organisers noted said cars and not send them entry forms for the following year’s show.

I managed to get my post-vintage car and 1956 lorry on the showground at 8.30am.
