COLIN Parry of the Royal Forest of Dean Cycling Club (RFDCC) plummeted down to Cannop to set a new record in the Cannop 1 lap time trial last Tuesday (August 16).

Martin Green, of the club, writes: "The Cannop lap starts at Boys Grave heads to Speech House then plummets down the hill to the Pygmy Pinetum crossroads before speeding down the Cannop Valley to Parkend where it then grinds up the hill to the Barracks before turning left past the Fancy to Boys Grave. One lap equals 6.5 miles.

"It was a nice evening for the last standard TT event in the 2011 RDFCC calendar, Colin Parry at 10th in the BCF National Rankings setting a new course record (at 13:59) that will be hard to challenge and 35 seconds lower than the old record.

"A welcome return to time trialling for Alistair Willis – though 40 seconds short of his best time on the old bike.

"A number of good improvements on personal best times and Will Bevan of Ross and District Cycling Club third on the all time fastest list on this course.

"But ride of the night has to be Colin no question. Awesome and that despite a tricky headwind from the Barracks to the Fancy."
