I READ with great interest the latest letter from Dr Daphne Pearson, a highly intelligent lady and very highly respected. But I'm not sure if the latest one is to be admired or looked upon with disdain.
If one is to criticise councillor attendance in any way then the facts must come forth. The committees operating within the great hall are generally run by the Conservative party which, in my opinion, should have been disbanded a long time ago. It seems some have forgotten that all district councillors, irrespective of party, are placed there by the public.
I also note Peter Amos is to seek pastures new at Aldershot. Who knows, he may even take some of this party with him. Dream on!
Perhaps Mark Harper will accompany him. I attended two meetings in the presence of Mark Harper, and went out of my way to acknowledge him. You may rest assured, he won't get a third chance.
I would also strongly recommend Dr Daphne stand for a district council seat for any party she may choose rather than have a resident seat in the public gallery. One must also remember back seat drivers are two a penny.
