THERE has been a “fantastic” response to a Forest  appeal for clothes for homeless people but now organisers say they need bags to take them in.

Natasha Saunders, of Lydney, started the appeal when she was going through some old clothes and decided they could help people who are homeless.

She has taken several bags to Gloucester to give to people on the streets and is now also working with the Gloucester City Mission.

The appeal received a boost when Hannah Parnell, the community champion at Tesco in Lydney, put up posters around the store and on social media.

Hannah said: “I saw ‘Tasha’s post on Facebook so I put posters in the store and on our Facebook community page before I went on holiday – and came back to my office stuffed to the gunwales,  which was amaz-

ing but slightly daunting.

“The response has been fantastic but now what we need is bags to put all these clothes in.”

Natasha said she was very grateful to everyone who had supported the appeal and to Hannah and Tesco for their help.

She added: “ We’ve been inundated with woolly jumpers, hats and gloves which is fantastic but we are really short on bags that we can put them into.

“We need large, heavy duty carrier bags  and hold-alls so we can get the clothes to the people who need them.”

There is also a need for donations of toiletries and sanitary products.

Although the bags are going to Gloucester, Natasha said she would take bags to people in the Forest if she is told where people in need are.

Bags and donations of toiletries and sanitary products can be taken to Tesco in Lydney and for more information search for Tesco supporting Lydney community on Facebook.
