BUSINESS is skipping along at Five Acres Garage near Coleford, after general manager Shaun Howells opted for a forecourt display with a difference.
Alongside the sparkling new and used cars on show is the startling spectacle of a skip with two old bangers wedged into it.
Five Acres is one of many local garages to benefit from climbing sales in the wake of the government scrappage scheme.
Shaun has decided to cash in on its success by setting up Five Acres' own scrappage scheme for used cars.
He said: "We have been extremely busy with the government incentive and scrappage scheme and we have decided to extend it with our own scheme for £1,500 towards selected used cars.
"When the government introduced the scrappage scheme we weren't sure if it would work, but now we are almost too busy with it!"
And the stunt is certainly attracting attention – as the display was being created, several people were seen videoing the scene to post on the internet.
Last week the garage sold 15 cars under the government incentive and within 48 hours of introducing its own used car scheme had already shifted a few more cars.
"It is not just about money, but about injecting interest back into the flagging motor trade and business is roughly double that of last year," added Shaun.
