I AGREE we should do away with the Bedroom Tax.
It is wrong that people through no fault of their own have to pay this tax if they are living in a three bedroom dwelling and wish to move to a smaller dwelling which the housing association cannot provide because they have no smaller houses for them.
Why don't they build more two bedroom houses? These are very important for older persons who require these type of houses.
Two bedrooms are a must as older persons who have knee, hip, shoulder operations and need to sleep alone.
We must look after our elders and give the correct housing that they need. I will not criticise Two Rivers or any other housing association for not building more two bedroom bungalows as we all know that the cost of doing so is greatly increased because of the land area to build on.
We as councillors have no control on what they build. We can only point out to them the need of more two bedroom bungalows.
Contact your MP and make you point to him. It is Parliament tht makes all these new taxes for us to carry out.
