IT'S OFFICIAL ... customers at Drybrook's Vale's Butchery shop get the best beef burgers for miles around.
And they also buy scrumptious steak and kidney pies and princely pork sausages. And the proof is in the eating as all three items have won top awards in the Four Counties Excellence In British Meat Awards.
The news was announced last week and delighted butchery owner Kevin Vale
"When butchers enter these competitions they often play around for hours preparing their entries.
"We just entered the products we produce every day of the week," said Kevin.
"We have our own recipes and all our products are made from locally produced meat. We knew they were good but we are delighted to have done so well," he said.
The Vale beef burgers won a gold medal, the steak and kidney pies won silver and the pork sausages won bronze.
"It's very much a team effort," said Mr Vale.
"We have a good spirit here with a top class butcher in Frank Clayson and an excellent apprentice in Richard Lloyd. The baker is Gordon Hunt and between them they deserve a lot of praise," he said.
Trade secrets?
"We have our own recipes bur for now we will be keeping them to ourselves," said Kevin.
