THE seventh annual flower festival at Lydbrook Church celebrated the best of British.

From afternoon tea to the great British seaside and the sacrifice of two world wars, individuals and groups from the village and the surrounding areas made their tributes to what makes Britain great.

As well as members of the congregation, there were contributions by groups including Lydbrook Primary School, the British Legion, Lydbrook Players, the youth drama group and the Women’s Institute.

Organiser Sue Williams said: “This is the seventh flower festival and everybody looks forward to it.

“I organise it with Sue Jenkins but we couldn’t do it without the help of 15 or 20 other helpers.

“The church looks even more wonderful with all the flowers but there is also music and tea and cakes, all of which are donated by people.

“We do the flower festival every spring and then in December we have the Christmas tree festival.”
